The Model RDS1 is a compact swing gate design air intake shutoff valve available with either electric or mechanical actuation. Actuation of the Model RDS1 closes the valve’s sealing element which shuts off intake air flow into the engine. The RDS1 can be used in fully automatic or manual shutdown systems.
The RDS1 Swing Gate Valve can be used in applications where the air intake line is ½to 2 1/2 inches (15 - 65 mm) in diameter. It can be mounted in vertical or horizontal orientations and airflow through the valve can be in either direction.
To accommodate the installation requirements for the wide variety diesel engine applications, valve attachments are available in several styles including: hose, O-ring, flange, and engine specific attachment.

Installation Kits
Installation kits are available for all valves sold and contain the hardware required to ease the installation of the Air Intake Shutoff Valve into a diesel engine air intake line. Roda Deaco has hundreds of different kits available to ease the installation process. The installation kits are designed to meet specific engine model and application requirements. The kits can range from hose with clamps to custom intake pipes, elbow, flanges, brackets, etc.
Overspeed Sensors and Switches
For automatic systems, engine overspeed sensors and switches are available to monitor and trigger the shutdown of the diesel in the event of an engine runaway condition.

Actuation Kits
Actuation kits contain hardware required to properly install and integrate the specified shutdown system into the diesel engine application. The kits, specific for each type of system and application, can include items such as:
